Back from calibration

The vehicle is back on site, but its report is missing. Is it ready for delivery?

Illustrative repair order · RO 0724

At the shop

A crossover returns from an outside calibration provider at 3:40 p.m. Its keys are at reception; its completion report is still in the provider’s outbox. The customer expects a call at four.

Set up the demo

Use the sample records below when entering this fictional repair.

Records to enter in the demo

Fictional shop records
ReferenceOwner or eventRecord entry
SUB-724Dispatch · 09:00Vehicle sent to outside provider. Completion report required for shop release.
KEY-724Reception · 15:40Keys and vehicle returned. Report outstanding.
DOC-724Manager · 16:18Provider report received and reviewed against this repair order.

At four o’clock what can reception tell the customer?

The car is back and the shop is awaiting the report. At 16:18 the manager can clear this documentation hold after review. The shop must still verify any other required release checks.

Run the handoff

  1. Mark the car physically returned, then try to mark it ready for pickup before uploading the report. Note whether this is blocked, warned or allowed.
  2. Attach a sample report, identify who reviewed it and check what reception can now tell the customer.

Where AutoHound fits

AutoHound lists off-site sublet tracking, report status and closeout checks. Ask the demo team to show which checks your shop can require for this job. Read the AutoHound field guide.

What to record

This exercise evaluates document handling. The vehicle manufacturer’s procedures and qualified personnel determine the repair and calibration requirements. Write down the role, screen and document that prove the result.
